Nary lives at Trapeang Anh Chan in Cambodia. She is employed by Cambodia Knits, an amazing social enterprise that works with marginalized communities in and near Phnom Penh. They believe that high quality products can be made at home. This cuts out the need to travel the long distance into the city to find work and allows parents to stay home with their young children. It also means that people can work at their own pace and still earn a livable income.

The families living at Trapeang Anh Chan (TAC) were relocated from central Phnom Penh in 2012 to make way for a railway project. While they have received some support in their new location, one key missing element is access to employment.

While the relocation site provided housing for community members, the 20 kilometer trip to the city means many cannot afford to travel to find work elsewhere. Cambodia Knits provided training in both knitting and crocheting for interested community members, which has so far enabled 11 more producers to join their team.

Nary is one of the remarkable women on that team and she makes our wonderful knitted toys which you can view here...

You can leave her a message of encouragement and thanks in the review section below to be passed onto her!
